Privacy Policy for Snap Sorted
Last updated: September 19, 2026
Snap Sorted is developed by Abdoulaye Barry. This policy explains how Snap Sorted handles information when you use its photo capture, sorting, gallery, app lock, and crash-reporting features.
Photos and on-device processing
Snap Sorted requests camera access so you can take photos inside the app. It uses Google’s ML Kit image labeling and text recognition to help choose a category, including identifying receipt text.
Photo classification and text recognition happen on your device. Snap Sorted does not upload your photo contents or recognized text to a server operated by Abdoulaye Barry.
Photos captured inside Snap Sorted are stored in the app’s private storage, along with information such as the category, main image label, capture date, and deletion date where applicable.
Photos and Gallery backup
When you take a photo, Snap Sorted also attempts to save a backup copy in your phone’s normal Photos or Gallery library. On iPhone, these copies may appear in a Snap Sorted album. On Android, they are stored in the Pictures/Snap Sorted device folder and may appear under “On this device” in Google Photos.
Photos or Gallery permission is used only to save these backup copies. If permission is denied or the backup fails, the photo can still remain inside Snap Sorted, and the app will notify you that the Gallery backup needs access.
Deleting Snap Sorted does not delete backup copies already saved in the phone’s Photos or Gallery library. You can manage or delete those copies through your phone’s Photos or Gallery app. Your device’s cloud-photo and backup settings may upload or retain them according to the services you have enabled.
Google ML Kit technical information
On-device photo processing does not mean that the app makes no network connections. ML Kit may send technical information to Google for diagnostics, usage measurement, model updates, fixes, and hardware compatibility. These technical reports are separate from your photo contents and recognized text.
Google’s processing is described in its Privacy Policy and ML Kit Terms and Privacy information.
Crash reports
Snap Sorted uses Firebase Crashlytics to detect crashes and technical failures. When the app crashes or records a technical error, Crashlytics may receive diagnostic information such as the app version, device model, operating-system version, time of the event, installation identifiers, device state, and technical details showing where the failure occurred.
Crashlytics is used to identify and fix reliability problems. Snap Sorted does not intentionally attach your photos, recognized text, PIN/password, or recovery code to crash reports. Firebase Crashlytics is provided by Google and is subject to Firebase privacy and security information and Google’s Privacy Policy.
App lock and recovery
Snap Sorted uses a PIN or password to restrict access to its screens. It stores salted hashes used to verify the PIN/password and recovery code, rather than storing their original readable values. It also stores information needed to enforce delays after incorrect unlock attempts. These security records use device secure storage through the app’s secure-storage library.
Keep your recovery code somewhere private. It allows you to reset the app lock. The app lock is an access-control feature; it does not mean that every photo file is independently encrypted by Snap Sorted.
Storage and deletion
You can move photos to Recently Deleted, restore them, or permanently delete them through the app. Moving a photo to Recently Deleted does not immediately erase the image. Photos that have been there for at least 30 days are eligible for permanent removal when the app’s cleanup process runs.
Uninstalling Snap Sorted removes app-private photos and category records according to the operating system’s behavior. It does not remove the separate backup copies already saved in Photos or Gallery. Snap Sorted does not provide its own cloud-backup service in this version.
Support messages
If you email snapsorted.support@gmail.com, Abdoulaye Barry receives your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. These are used to answer questions and investigate problems. Messages are handled through Gmail, which is provided by Google and subject to Google’s privacy practices.
Do not send your app PIN/password or recovery code. Avoid including private photos or documents unless they are necessary for your question and you wish to share them.
Your choices
You can manage Camera and Photos/Gallery permissions through your phone’s settings. Without camera permission, the app cannot capture new photos. Without Photos/Gallery permission, automatic backup copies may not be saved outside the app. You can manage Photos/Gallery copies and device backups separately.
Children’s privacy
Snap Sorted is not specifically directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information through support correspondence. If you believe a child has supplied personal information to us, contact us so we can address it.
Changes
If the app’s features or information handling change, this policy will be updated with a revised date. New features such as Snap Sorted cloud backup, accounts, or advertising would require a review of this policy and the store privacy disclosures.
